MIDDLE SCHOOL HANDBOOK UPDATE
We want to inform you that our district's handbooks have been updated. While there are no changes to our day-to-day operations, we have revised the language to ensure it aligns with current state and federal regulations. These updates were approved by the School Committee on December 10th, and the most up-to-date version is now in effect. You can view the revised handbook at the link below. Please take a moment to review it, and feel free to reach out if you have any questions.
MIDDLE SCHOOL SPRING SPORTS
From Mr. Magliozzi – Athletic Director
Hello Families, As we began the start of the 24-25 school year, we have been working on ways to bring back Girls volleyball and track and field to our middle schools this spring. To make these two sports available, we have had to increase the fee to participate and adjust the operational structure for volleyball. Below is a description of the changes.
Volleyball Structure:
The goal is to have an intramural program within each middle school as well as have a few matches between the two schools. Overall, this will allow for more students to participate, learn, and receive volleyball- specific training while maximizing the after school hours for involvement. The students will play games within their own school and will have additional matches with the Marshall in order to provide more competition.
Track and Field:
The team will continue to compete in the Middlesex League as it has in previous years.
Fee:
For the spring of 2025, the fee will be $140.00 to participate.
Transportation:
After-school busing will not be available, therefore families will have to arrange transportation after the practices and games. Transportation will be provided for the away meets for track and field as we have done in the past.
As we plan for the spring season, we are asking for your input based on this information. In order to assess the interest level for each sport, please complete the Google survey to help us work towards reinstating the sports.

HOMEWORK CLUB

Students are expected to stay for the full hour. Parent pick-up at 2:45 is required.

MATH PROBLEM OF THE WEEK #12
We will have a new problem next week
Holiday Dessert (My favorite)
Vanessa bought some round holiday dessert plates to give as a gift to her friend. However, the store only had 5 of the 8 plates she wanted. (All of the plates are the same.) The stack of five plates measured 1.5 inches tall, and when two plates were removed from the stack the remaining stack of three plates had a height of 1 inch.
1. When Vanessa finally has all 8 of the plates she wants, how tall will the stack of 8 plates be, in inches? Express your answer as a decimal to the nearest hundredth.
2. What is the height of just one of these plates, in inches? Express your answer as a decimal to the nearest tenth.
