MATH PROBLEM OF THE WEEK #31

Same problem as last week – we need more submissions!

Hot Dogs on the Grill

In anticipation of Memorial Day weekend, the grocery stocked the shelves with extra hotdogs. On Monday morning, they stocked the shelf with 40 hotdogs. By the end of the day, some of the dogs had been sold.

On Tuesday morning, they counted the number of hotdogs left and then added that many more to the shelf. In other words, they doubled the number that was left on the shelf. At the end of the day, they discovered that they had sold the exact same number of hotdogs as had been sold on Monday.

On Wednesday morning, the manager decided to triple the number of hotdogs that had been left on the shelf after Tuesday. Amazingly, they sold the same number of hotdogs on Wednesday as she had on each of the first two days! But this time, at the end of the day the shelf was empty.

How many hotdogs did they sell each day?

Last week’s answer – 198 mediums were ordered

Send your answers to Mr. Garas – tgaras@billericak12.com – You can win a Dunkins gift card and the highly coveted math certificate!!

Health Information: Aimee Montminy Athletic Trainer

1. PHYSICALS- As previously mentioned, this is the most important piece of documentation that the Athletic Trainer needs. If we do not have a current physical on file your student athlete will not be allowed to participate.

Physicals must include

·        Date of exam

·        something along the lines of "okay for activity/sports"

·        A doctor's signature/electronic signature

Please upload a photo/scan to Healthy Roster or email to: amontminy@billericak12.com

If you are a returning student athlete, please check your Healthy Roster account to see when your physical is expiring.

If the Athletic Trainer has it from a previous sports season and it is still current, I do not need another copy.

*Healthy Roster will only let you upload one file per document upload. If your child's physical is more than one page you can upload it as another physical or under the "other" option and I will edit accordingly. Please send all the pages!

2. If your student athlete is seen by a doctor for an injury or illness that causes them to miss practice or a game, I need a clearance note from the doctor. Just a simple letter that says okay to return to sports or not cleared. They will not be allowed to participate until cleared by that doctor.

 3. Concussion Courses- Both parent and student athletes need to complete the NFHS concussion course EVERY year. Here are the direct links. Remember you need to choose your state (MA) and then create an account. If you use the same account for both courses, there will only be one name on both certificates, this is fine.

STUDENT: https://nfhslearn.com/courses/concussion-for-students

PARENT: https://nfhslearn.com/courses/concussion-in-sports-2

4. COVID and CONCUSSION Return to Play- COVID and concussions now both have a very similar return to play protocol (RTP) that we have to follow. Both require a doctor to clear them to begin the return. COVID RTP is slightly longer than the concussion return but both gradually increase activity and heart rate over a set amount of days, while we monitor for symptoms. They cannot be completed without my direction/supervision. Athletes should be checking in with me daily if they are in protocol.

5. I am always available to answer any questions through email, phone, or text. My office phone and cell phone are listed below.

My job is to keep your children healthy and to return them to their sports as soon as it is safe to do so. I HATE taking them out of their sports just as much as you hate seeing them on sidelines but their health is my number ONE concern.

I'm looking forward to the fall season!

 Thanks! Aimee
