LIFE AT THE LOCKE … AT HOME EDITION #11
June 7, 2020
Dear Parents/Guardians, Staff, and Students,
I hope you are enjoying the weekend. The Locke Virtual Middle School (LVMS) returns for our final full week with 5 DAYS OF LEARNING! Our remote learning plan continues this week and the work for this week will be sent to each team later this evening via student and parent email. We ask for students to continue to work hard and engage in virtual learning over these last few days of school. This means actively engaging in google meets and trying their best on assignments. Have a great week of learning!

PARENT/STUDENT RESOURCES
It has been a difficult few weeks for all of us with the pandemic continuing and unrest regarding racism and violence. The following two links may be helpful to families as you navigate conversation regarding recent events.
STUDENT SURVEY
A student survey will be sent out tomorrow, Monday, June 8th. We would appreciate it if all students can fill it out and submit. We are looking for important student feedback on remote learning and how they believe they have done overall.
LAST DAY OF SCHOOL – Wednesday, June 17th
We are planning a drive-through event for families on Wednesday, June 17th. Our staff will be at the Locke to say goodbye to our students. The event schedule is as follows:
8:30 – 9:30 5th grade
9:30 – 10:30 6th grade
10:30 – 11:30 7th grade
The traffic pattern will be: enter at Urban, go through the loop, and exit at Allen. Families will not be exiting cars. Please keep speed at 5 MPH. Please feel free to decorate cars!
All 7th graders will be receiving a yearbook and a t-shirt as they exit the loop.
We will send out more details as we get closer to the last day.
MUSIC ENSEMBLE REGISTRATION (20-21)
Incoming 5th, 6th, & 7th-grade students at the Locke/Marshall have the opportunity to enroll and/or continue their music ensemble participation in either Band, Chorus, or Orchestra at the Middle School level. The enrollment form can be found online at www.tinyurl.com/BPSMusEns20 . All students that intend to play in the Band or Orchestra, or Sing in Choir this upcoming school year need to fill out the form so that they can be added to the appropriate ensemble for Middle School scheduling.
For more information about the program, please see the attached letter.
MATH PROBLEM OF THE WEEK
Last week’s answer: 15 basketballs in the closet
Let’s Jump Rope!!
My jump rope was cut in half and half was thrown away. It was cut in half again and half was thrown away. The other half was cut again one third along the way. The longer part (ten feet long) is what I use to play. How long was my jumping rope when I began today?
SHOW YOUR WORK and send answers to tgaras@billericak12.com We will send out virtual prizes for correct answers!
