February 10, 2019
Dear Parents/Guardians, Staff, and Students,
I hope you are enjoying your Sunday. Without football, it’s a great day to find a good book to keep us occupied.  The newsletter will not publish next week as we head into winter break. I wish everyone a restful, healthy vacation. As usual, we have a busy week ahead with 5 days of spirited learning! Let’s see what’s happening …
Monday, February 11th is a “A” Day. Please plan accordingly for the week.

MATH PROBLEM OF THE WEEK
Last week’s answer: Final score: Pats 38 Rams 27 (not even close, but the Pats still won!)
Groundhog Day!
The world’s most famous groundhog, Punxsutawney Phil, enjoyed his favorite day of the year – Groundhog Day on February 2nd. According to historical data on Stormfax® Weather Almanac’s website (stormfax.com/ghogday)Phil has predicted a long winter 104 times, and an early spring 18 times from 1887 to 2018 (no data for nine of these years). That makes the odds of Phil seeing his shadow, thereby predicting six more weeks of winter for this year, 52 to 9. Based on this information, what is the percent probability of Phil seeing his shadow? Express your answer as a percent to the nearest whole number.
SPRING ATHLETICS – BMHS
