QUOTE OF THE WEEK
Nobody will ever deprive the American people of the right to vote except the American people themselves and the only way they could do this is by not voting. -- Franklin D. Roosevelt
PARENT CORNER
An important part of our health curriculum is to guide and educate students on the use of social media. It is difficult for parents to monitor and stay current on the latest apps and websites that students are using. There are many resources for parents on this subject. See the link below for an interesting student survey on the use of social media.
STUDENT COUNCIL HALLOWEEN CANDY DRIVE
We collected 81.6 pounds of candy which are being sent to the troops overseas. Thank you for your donations!
LOCKE ROBOTICS FUNDRAISER
Locke Monster Robotics is selling string bags and coffee mugs as a fundraiser: The 16-ounce two-tone mugs with the Locke Monster Logo are dishwasher and microwave safe. The green and black Locke Monster Logo sting bags have a zippered pocket on one side and mesh material on the other side, they are 13" by 15" and hold up to 16 pounds.
Bags: $10 Mugs $15, Special: 1 Mug and 1 Bag Combo for $20!
Please email Locke Monsters Robotics Coach Maureen Parker at mparker@billericak12.com to purchase. Thank you for your Support!
DC CANDY FUNDRAISER
Details:  Hershey candy bars, 30 bars per box.  You purchase the box for $30, cash or check payable to the Locke Middle School.  Candy bars are $2 each, they are the larger size candy bars, so you end up making $30 profit per box.  You can use the $30 to help subsidize the cost of the trip. Students can see Mrs. Ternullo (8A) or Mr. Paton (8B) to pick up boxes of candy.  There will also be some candy available in the main office if parents want to swing by the school and pick up one or more boxes themselves.
Please contact Mrs. Tolleson, jtolleson@billericak12.com, with any questions.
MATH PROBLEM OF THE WEEK
Last week’s answer: Beth is SpongeBob.
Too Much Candy
In two hours of trick-or-treating, Reese, Clark and Joy filled six bags with treats. At this rate, how many bags of treats could Joy fill alone, in one hour of trick-or-treating? Turn in your answers to the main office.
ABSENCES
If your child is going to be absent, please call 978-528-8650 to report the absence. You can leave a voicemail at this number which goes directly to our secretary. You may also email our secretary, Ms. Battcock at pbattcock@billericak12.com

Clearing out warm weather clothing to make room for cold weather clothing, clearing out outgrown warm weather clothing, or just plain making space in preparation for the holidays and those gifts on your wish list? We can help! The PTO is partnering with Savers for a fundraiser.  We will have a truck at the school on Thursday, December 13th, the day and evening of parent-teacher conferences.  Please help us load up that truck with your gently used, unneeded items. Both soft goods (clothing, sheets, towels, blankets, etc.) and hard goods ( furniture, small appliances, etc.) are welcome. Your donations will help raise money for the PTO and will be resold at Savers stores, to benefit the Epilepsy Foundation.
Our Yankee Candle fundraiser is still available with online ordering until January 9th, 2019, at www.yankeecandlefundraising.com, group 999972037. Great for holiday gift shopping from the comfort of home!
If you would prefer not to participate in our fundraisers, but would still like to contribute, please see our Alternative Fundraiser form.
