Monday, November 6th is a “D” day. Tuesday, there is no school for students. Wednesday is an “A” Day and Thursdayis a “B” Day. Friday is a holiday to honor our veterans. Please plan accordingly for the week.

PICTURE RETAKES
On Thursday, November 9th the photographer will return for photos. If you were absent or you need a retake, please have your photo taken. If you are getting a retake, please return your original photos.

HOMEWORK CLUB
HW club continues throughout the year. It will be in the library every Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Students do not need to sign up ahead of time for HW club. They will report to the library immediately after school. Students can attend as many days as the parent/student believes are necessary.

A. The letters of the words GHOST, GHOUL, TRICK, TREAT and CANDY were written on 25 index cards, one letter per card. If the cards are shuffled and one card is selected at random, what is the probability that the card contains one of the letters in the word GHOST? Express your answer as a common fraction.
B. If all 25 cards are shuffled again, what is the probability of selecting, in any order and without replacement, five cards that contain the letters G, H, O, S and T? Express your answer as a common fraction.

PTO CORNER
Coming right up! We have a PTO meeting coming up this Monday, November 6th at 6:30 PM in the school library. We hope you will join us!
Halloween trinket sales: Much thanks to those who volunteered, and to those who supported the PTO through purchases. We hope the kids enjoyed this opportunity. Winter holiday trinkets will be available in December.
Locke Tree at Billerica Holiday Festival: Each year, the Locke Middle School has a tree on display at the Billerica Public library which is not only displayed, but raffled off for a lucky winner to enjoy at home over the holidays. We need a volunteeror two to set up and decorate the tree at any time during regular library hours between November 13th and 16th. We are also looking for donations of decorations to go on the tree. Yankee Candle fundraiser: The holidays are coming up fast! Yankee Candles make wonderful gifts and also help make your own home festive during the holiday season. We will have another Scrip gift card fundraiser coming up soon with guaranteed delivery in time for holiday gift giving! Stress Free Fundraiser... Traditional fundraisers not your thing? Our Alternative - Stress Free Fundraiser runs throughout the school year. Donations can be sent in at any time and are sincerely appreciated. 100% of all donations go to the Locke PTO to directly benefit the students and staff at the Locke. Checks should be made payable to Locke PTO in an envelope marked Locke PTO. Forms are helpful but not mandatory if Stress Free Fundraiser is on the memo line of your check.
Open Positions/ Volunteer Opportunities: We need volunteers to "shadow" our current chair people for the following positions to take over at the end of the 2017-2018 school year:
Co Vice President (fundraising)

Communications Officer (email, Facebook, etc.)
Box Tops for Education Program Coordinator.

Volunteer Opportunities... The Locke PTO welcomes any and all help that parents are willing to give. We have many different opportunities to help out, some at our school or in other parts of Billerica and some that you can do from home. No amount of time and effort is too little, so please take a look at the attached list and let us know what you can do to help us make Life at the Locke that much better!
Box Tops for Education: Please save and send us your Box Tops from Education. Each box top you are willing to clip from a Box or other container from your grocery store purchase and send in earns the Locke PT0 10 cents toward supplies, events, and programs for the children. Please make sure that the expiration dates remain intact so that we can receive credit. Box tops should be turned in in either an envelope or Ziploc bag clearly labeled with your child's name and home room number. Thank you!
